LANSING – State Representative Marc Corriveau (D-Northville) today announced that technology developer and manufacturer Danotek Motion Technologies will relocate its headquarters to Plymouth Township, creating up to 353 new jobs.
"This goes to show that our community has the highly skilled workforce needed to attract high-tech, 21st century job providers," Corriveau said. "This kind of job creation and economic development is exactly what we need to get our local economy back on track and keep moving forward. This is great news for our workers and Plymouth Township."
The Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) board today approved a state tax credit valued at $2.5 million over 10 years to encourage the company to invest in Michigan over a competing site in Indiana. Plymouth Township is considering a local abatement to support the project.
Danotek Motion Technologies develops and manufactures permanent magnet generators, power control electronics, and brushless motors for power generation industries and advance automotive applications plans. The company's expanded facility in Plymouth Township would accommodate the manufacture of up to 3 Mega Watt variable speed PM generators for use with wind turbines. The project is expected to create 353 new jobs, including 141 directly by the company. An economic analysis conducted by the Michigan Economic Development Corp. estimates the project will generate an additional 212 indirect jobs.
"Renewable energy technology has the potential to create thousands of jobs in our state," said Corriveau, who supported the plan that cleared the way for approval of the MEGA tax credit. "It's terrific that Plymouth Township is getting a foothold in this rapidly growing field. By creating jobs and boosting our economy, we will continue to move in the right direction."
